Turn a PDF into an editable Word document (.docx), or into plain text, with headings and paragraphs rebuilt. It works for Amharic, Afaan Oromo, Tigrinya, Somali and English text, and the PDF never leaves your browser.
What is converted
All the text, page by page, with each PDF page on its own Word page
Paragraphs joined back from their lines, and words split by a hyphen rejoined
Larger text turned into Word headings
Amharic and other Ge'ez-script text as real, editable Unicode
What is not converted
Images, tables and the exact layout (columns are kept apart with spaces)
Scanned PDFs, which contain pictures of text rather than text
Old Amharic PDFs made with non-Unicode fonts such as Power Geez: their letters come out as Latin symbols
Can it convert Amharic PDFs?
Yes, if the PDF uses Unicode Ge'ez text, as PDFs made from Word, Google Docs or a web browser do. PDFs made with old fonts such as Power Geez store Latin codes instead of Ge'ez letters, so their text cannot be recovered as Amharic.
Why is there no text in my Word file?
The PDF is probably a scan: each page is a picture. Text inside pictures needs OCR (optical character recognition), which this tool does not do.
Is my document uploaded?
No. The PDF is read and converted in your browser, so it never leaves your device.
